About The Project

Isthmus Architecture has completed three projects at North and South Halls on the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s campus. The building envelope investigation was conducted in 2003 and in 2011 the comprehensive stone and window restoration was completed. The exterior stone and windows of North and South Halls on the University of Wisconsin’s Madison campus required special attention and sound preservation strategies. The combination of weather, age and well-intended but damaging repairs had taken a toll on the two 1850’s buildings. Because North Hall is listed as a Historic National Landmark and South Hall is listed on the National Historic Register; the preservation repair methods followed the National Park Service Standards for Restoration of Historic Properties.
