About The Project
The lavish Al. Ringling Theatre, constructed in 1915, is owned by the Al. Ringling Theatre Friends, Inc. The intimate 800 theatre, designed by noted Chicago architects, Rapp & Rapp, is significant as the first built example of the American movie palace. Isthmus Architecture, Inc. developed a Historic Structure Report for the property that provides detailed analysis of existing conditions and recommendations for appropriate preservation treatments in addition to necessary theatre equipment, mechanical, electrical, technical and plumbing systems upgrades.
Isthmus Architecture managed the complete historic rehabilitation and upgrade of the entire facility. Construction was funded in part by state and federal historic tax credits. The work was completed utilizing multiple prime contractors.
