About The Project
Isthmus Architecture, Inc. developed a Feasibility Study for the City of Whitewater and the Whitewater Historical Society as the initial step in the restoration and rehabilitation of the building. Key components of the study were identification of immediate needs, definition of the scope of rehabilitation work and estimate of probable rehabilitation costs. The second phase involved the comprehensive historic rehabilitation of the depot for use a museum of local history. Rehabilitation was partially funded by a TEA-21 grant administered by the WisDOT. The City was the local sponsor. Section 106 compliance was obtained. The depot, located in downtown Whitewater, was constructed by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad in 1890 and designed by architect J. T. W. Jennings.
